These Elytra Sternocera beetle wings from Thailand are turned into wearable art. The insects are farmed in accordance with the regulations of CITES (Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species). Many people eat beetles and other insects in Thailand as a good source of protein. We acquire the wings afterwards and recycle into wearable jewelry. An information card will be included to learn more.
The beetle wings are attached to a fan shape backing and come on surgical steel hypoallergenic hook earrings with earring backs. They measure approximately 1” in height.
Each wing has it's own unique color tone, but all have a brilliant natural metallic shine which reflects colors ranging from bright green to goldenrod yellow, deep cobalt blue, and even purple. When viewed in mass the wings take on a mesmerizing life of their own, the hues and colors delicately shift depending on the light.
These beetle wings are very sturdy. They will not break by blowing in the wind but will be crushed if stepped on. Take care of your jewelry and these will last a very long time.

Every piece is handmade to order. Please allow 3–5 days for us to make and prepare your order, then 3–5 business days for USPS delivery in the U.S. Free U.S. shipping on orders $50 and over; about $7.50 under $50. We ship internationally (rates at checkout). Returns accepted within 30 days, and we'll fix or replace anything that arrives broken.

Every butterfly lived a full life on a preservation farm and was collected after it died naturally. The farms protect rainforest habitat, and about 80% of farm-raised eggs reach adulthood versus about 5% in the wild. All species are approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Learn more

Wings are permanently sealed in jeweler's-grade resin, which is durable and water resistant. Keep framed art out of direct sunlight and away from humidity to keep colors vibrant.
