Where Our Butterflies Come From

Where do your butterflies come from?

Every butterfly and moth we use lived a full life on a preservation farm. Eggs laid on leaves in the wild rain forest are collected and hatched on the farm, and the adult butterflies are released back into the wild.

Were any butterflies harmed?

No. Butterflies live about three weeks, so every day some pass away naturally before they're released. Those are the only ones we acquire.

Does buying butterfly art help butterflies?

Yes. About 5% of butterfly eggs survive to adulthood in the wild; on farms that jumps to about 80%. The farms protect their rain forest land from deforestation, and your purchase helps keep them running.

Are the species legal?

All of our species are approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

What else is natural in your work?

Beetle wings, four-leaf clovers, seashells, flowers, and more, all collected after their natural life. Every order comes with an info card about the species and the farm.
